Environmental
Each product that leaves our door is a testament to thoughtful design, lasting quality, and a responsible future.
At Paul Brayton Designs, sustainability is integral to how we work. From responsibly sourced materials and energy-efficient production to recycling and waste reduction at our U.S. facility, we strive to reduce our environmental impact across the entire supply chain. Our commitment is clear: to design and craft furniture that is not only beautiful and enduring but also contributes to a healthier planet for the future.
Material Integrity, Longevity, and end of product life
We work with solid wood, cold-foamed polyurethane, and metal — materials selected for structural performance, durability, and long-term use.
Each piece of furniture is designed with permanence in mind. Our furniture is crafted for long-lasting durability and is crafted to serve reliably for many decades. Components that age with integrity and maintain their function over time endure, and replacement becomes unnecessary. Designed for strength and stability, our furniture can be disassembled, repaired, and recycled.
Carbon Footprint
Sixty percent of products are manufactured domestically. This allows us to be rigorous about quality control, reduce transportation costs, and foster direct collaboration with craftspeople. This also ensures consistency with lead time and specifications.
Environmental Initiative
At Paul Brayton Designs, we offer environmentally responsible textiles engineered to perform in high-traffic commercial interiors. Our mission is to elevate spaces, while contributing to a better world through materials that are beautiful, durable, easy to maintain, and thoughtfully sourced.
Certificates & Standards:
Our textiles comply with strict environmental and health standards, including Healthier Hospitals, HPDs, REACH, and RoHS. The majority contain no added flame retardants, anti-bacterial or anti-microbial chemicals, lead, heavy metals, formaldehyde, BPA, PVC, or phthalates. Detailed environmental benefits are outlined on each textile product page.

Recycled Content
Our commitment to responsible design is reflected in our textiles, with many of our offerings incorporating recycled content. One of our patterns uses recycled soda bottles. Using sustainable materials lowers environmental impact and maintains performance. durability, or aesthetic integrity. As our organization progresses, we are committed to expanding the utilization of recycled and renewable resources, thereby ensuring that our designs support the advancement of sustainability.
Fabric
All leftover textiles, leather, and samples are diverted from landfills through donation or resale to local craftspeople, schools, universities, and community organizations—supporting reuse, education, and creative exploration.
Leather - Our Swedish-sourced cowhide is from the cleanest tannery in the world.
With zero waste processes, carbon neutrality, chrome-free tanning, and no heavy metals, our leather treatment never adds pollutants into waterways. The biological water treatment system and Zero Waste Leather® program represent a significant advancement, demonstrating a deep commitment to responsible production. Launched in early 2021, this industry-leading initiative eliminates process waste and landfill contribution, supporting a circular economy. By-products are repurposed into high-efficiency fertilizers, creating meaningful value for local agriculture.
Our Manufacturing Facility
Based in North Carolina’s Piedmont region, we focus on sourcing from nearby suppliers—primarily within a 60-mile radius—chosen for craftsmanship, sustainability, and local engagement. Within our own facility, we actively recycle cardboard, paper, metals, plastics, wood pallets, and fabric remnants, reinforcing our commitment to responsible operations.
